Meeting New Parents!

September 7, 2008 · Filed Under Military News, Military Parents, National Guard Parents, Parents News

LAW here – from Spouse Buzz Live.  There was a decent turnout – Hurricane Hanna didn’t keep everyone away.  As always – there were cheers, tears, advice and questions.  The ParentZone business cards arrived, and we distributed almost all of them!  PZ TechMama will be putting our new logo here on the site soon.

So many spouses want to give the information to their parents and in-laws.  Now – those of you here, I am hoping you will give us some feedback.  We are asking for your stories, your experiences, your questions.  Did you take care of something for your child before deployment, during deployment?  How did you do it?  THOSE are the things we need to pass on to other parents.  Send them either by email, or comment here.

Have a great day – I’m going to be on vacation for a few days, but will be continuing to post.  If I don’t get back to you right away – I’ll get with you as soon as I can.

As parents, we have had to email and dig through files and find paperwork our son needed to get reimbursed for travel expenses. I would advise parents to make copies of your son or daughter’s vehicle registration, shot records, your vehicle registration, and actually go with your soldier to see whatall is involved just getting on and off post. When our son was in another state, he had just purchased a new truck, so left without all the proper registration that place needed to verify he “owned” the vehicle to reimburse him for travel expenses to the next part of training in another state.

And I would encourage parents to go to the website of the post where your son or daughter is stationed. Clicking on their school or where they are training helps understand if/when you can attend that graduation, and what vehicle paperwork you will need to get on post. Most even have packing lists, and helpful info on where to stay when visiting.
