I also stumbled upon this web site. My Son is leaving for Iraq in the morning. He is a reservist and this is his first deployment. I too don't have a very good relationship with his wife. I also don't live in the same town that my son lives in so I have no wat to contact anyone from his base. I am not even sure if I am listed as a contact. As soon as I get some extra money I am going to get my passport redone, it has expired. I also am looking for a book especially for Moms.

I read the into to this site...and for the 1st time I feel a sence of relefe.Relief that someone understands that Jake is NOT "my soldier"; but my SON.I feel fear beyond any fear I have ever known.Fear that he will be physically harmed, emotionally maimed and/or worse...that he could very well give his very life over there in Afganastan. He Finished Basic training in september from Fort Sill, then went on to where he is now for AIT in Fort Sam.I never recieved ANY info regarding when he arrived....when he was sick and/or when he would even start Basic period. I feel SO out of the loop and my son dosent want me to worry,,,but not being informed and aware is worse then blind faith. I will definately access your site when the time comes for him to deploy...when ever that may be. God Bless you and Yours with health, safety and joy.

I just finished reading every last post! Very inspiring! I found this site quite by accident, while searching in vain for a book. Maybe someone here, could point me in the right direction or make some suggestions please! I am looking for a book for Mom's (not wife's, there are many of these), coping with they're son's deployment to Iraq!
Up until my son's deployment, I had an excellent relationship with my daughter-in-law. Now she is so consumed with anger, depression and self-pity over his decision to joined the Army at the age of 31, we hardly ever speak. I've tried to be very supportive, including sending her books for coping. I tell her she is his first priority when he is able to call and that's okay, just call me and keep me informed. Needless to say, she does not, which has caused hard feelings. Okay, sorry for rambling! I want a book similar to the ones written for Wife's of deployed soldiers, but specific to MOM's. Am I, asking for, to much?

My question is simple ... I received an email from the web admin folks at stoploss.army.mil which gave me a case number and login information. Problem is when I logon it reports that my information cannot be verified. I have sent this information back to them (including a screen shot) but have yet to get any response. Furthermore, the website still has yet to be repaired ... how is anyone supposed to be able to check claim status if the website is non-functional? Any word on when this will be repaired?
